BOSTON (Boston Globe) - Quick reaction by alert Bostonians helped prevent fictional cartoon characters from the Moon from successfully launching an attack on Beantown.
Ignignokt, leader of the Mooninites, had duplicates of himself planted across Boston as part of a plan to take over the Earth.
“As we are from the Moon, we are naturally far superior to anything you have on the Earth,” Ignignokt said. “In fact, your Earth is our Moon.”
All of Boston was shut down while officials located and disarmed the electronic devices. Boston mayor Thomas M. Menino said the threat was very real.
“Two dimensional creatures from the Moon flipping us off? That terrorism at its worst. And we in Boston won’t stand for it,” Menino said.
Los Angeles mayor Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa expressed sympathy for Menino’s plight.
“Just a week ago, our city was bombed by terrorists from Fox TV’s 24,” Villaraigosa said. “And now Boston suffered a worse fate: strategically-placed Light Brights.”
